Learning to Be Safe: The Goddard School® of Granger Makes Health and Safety Their Top Priorities

For more than 30 years, The Goddard School has been a trusted name among families. Its classrooms are safe, nurturing environments for children six weeks to six years, offering age-appropriate opportunities to explore and discover.

At The Goddard School of Granger, IN, on-site owner Bhavesh “BJ” Patel works to make sure every family enjoys a warm, positive experience. “We strive to provide the highest quality program for each child,” he says. “Our play-based F.L.EX.® Learning Program ensures that we meet high standards specific to early learning, development and care.”

The F.L.EX.® Learning Program (Fun Learning Experience) is grounded in research on how children learn best: children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun. It’s designed to help build each child’s emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills – including 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking - to provide a well-rounded experience and help each one become school-ready, career-ready and life-ready.

21st century skills also tie in directly with STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). The Goddard School introduces STEAM concepts early on to help promote children’s natural curiosity in these subjects, increasing the chance that children will pursue STEAM-related careers later on in life. While the education of children is of the utmost importance, Goddard’s number one priority is, and has always been, upholding its commitment to maintain safe, healthy environments for children.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Goddard School of Granger adheres strictly to the guidance and directives from its state and local governments as well as its local health department as it makes a variety of decisions about the School. The School has implemented additional policies and procedures to help keep the School as clean and germ-free as possible. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures: Only one family at a time is permitted inside the foyer, where the administration conducts a quick health screening to ensure the child does not have a fever above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or other flu-like symptoms. A designated teacher then takes the child to the classroom. For pick-up, a teacher brings each child to the foyer.
  • Social Distancing: Social distancing is practiced in the classroom throughout the day. Children remain in the classroom or on the playground with their teachers and classmates. For added safety, different classes do not interact with one another, and all special events and visitors are postponed until further notice.
  • Enhanced Cleaning Protocols: Teachers implement an even more rigorous cleaning routine, and all high-touch surfaces and objects are sanitized regularly throughout the day. These include, but are not limited to, all learning materials, playground structures, light switches and door handles.
